Kaoli Isshiki

Kaoli Isshiki studied at the Institute of the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. After being awarded the 2nd opera prize in the Paris International Singing Competition in 2001, she began her professional career in Europe in vocal ensembles such as Accentus, AXE 21, Musicatreize and the Nederlands Kamerkoor. She continued her career as a soloist with the Ensemble InterContemporain, VocaalLAB Nederlands, the Ensemble TM+, the Ensemble 2e2m, the Beauvais Cello Octors, Christophe Desjardins and Pablo Marquez. She interpreted works by Steve Reich, Louis Andriesen, Pierre Boulez, Jonathan Harvey, Paul Hindemith, Arvo Pert, Paul Méfano etc. Kaoli ISSHIKI has also recorded works by French composers such as Bruno Mantovani, Maurice Ohana, Pascal Dusapin, Dominique Lemaître, Felix Ibarrondo and Paul Méfano. Since 2003, when she obtained the 2nd prize in the International competition of Baroque singing at Chimay (presided over by William Christie), Kaoli  Isshiki has turned to French baroque music. In 2004, she participated in the recording by Il Seminario Musicale a DVD called The Tombs from the work of Marc Antoine Charpentier.
